• why choose adams mot?

Adam’s MOT Centre is a family run independent MOT centre situated in Bexhill-on-Sea East Sussex offering an MOT only service on class 4 vehicles (cars and light commercial vehicles up to 3000kg). Being independent and not offering any repair services, means we can give our customers an unbiased view of the condition of their vehicle whilst they can rest assured knowing we won’t be using the MOT as a means of gaining extra work.

We think there is no question but here are a few reasons why -

    Adam Flanagan

    Mot Tester

Adam has had an interest in cars from a young age, often taking cars apart and rebuilding them on his parent’s driveway. After working as a qualified mechanic in Bexhill for sometime, in 2005 he trained as an MOT tester and for the next 11 years managed a local independent MOT station. In October 2016 Adam felt the time was right to open his own Mot station continuing his aim of an MOT only test centre where customers can be assured of an honest and friendly MOT.

Emily is Adams wife and studied at Bexhill college and Brighton university before taking time out to raise their 3 children. Emily now divides her time between school runs and running the office, taking bookings and answering any queries you may have. You will feel right at home as she will quickly put all our customers at ease with her friendly nature.

An MOT is a compulsory annual inspection established by the Ministry of Transport (now the Department for Transport) in 1960. Initially only for vehicles over 10 years old and covering lights, brakes and steering it has evolved over the years to cover all vehicles over 3 years old and over 200 individual items.

In the event of your vehicle not meeting the requirements you will be issued with a document listing the items that need attention, we can offer guidance on what is required to remedy the defects. When the defects have been rectified the vehicle should be represented to the same test station. If the vehicle is presented for retest within 10 working days, then only a partial retest is required. After this time, another MOT will have to be carried out.

We can provide you with a copy of the certificate. If the vehicle was tested by us simply tell us the registration number and last 6 digits of the chassis number. If tested elsewhere, please bring along the V5 registration document. There is a £10 fee for a duplicate.

The current maximum price of an MOT is £54.85. Our discounted price is £40.

Depending on the age and condition of the vehicle it can take between 30-45 minutes.

No. However you should have any defects rectified as soon as possible to avoid driving an un-roadworthy vehicle.

Your vehicle can be tested 1 month before the expiry date. The new certificate will expire 12 months from the original expiry date.

We will require access to all areas of the vehicle so please bring keys to open all doors and fuel cap if applicable. Whilst not essential it is advisable to bring either the old MOT or the V5 registration document.
